India Copyright Act needs teeth: Javed Akhtar

Javed Akhtar , renowned poet and writer, and now the Vice President of the Brussels-based International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) says,
“Medicine or machinery can be patented – but here we’re talking about a song, a joint creation by producers, lyricists, composers, singers, choreographers, writers and actors.
The world over, copyright law recognises only something that’s written – how can this ‘act’ be patented then?”
